On the hunt for the best open source resources and more

You may already have noticed it has been a little bit quiet the last weeks, the reason for this is that there is a new design comming for OpenSourceHunter. Because there are comming some new features and some a lot changes i wont post a lot of new articles.

Drupal won the 2008 Overall Award for the second time in succession in what was a very close contest with Joomla!. While Joomla was the first runner up, DotNetNuke, a .NET-based open source Content Management System, made its way to the second runner up position in its first year in the final.

The 2009 Award will feature an increased prize fund of $24,000 and a new category designed specifically for previous winners of the Overall Open Source CMS Award. This new Hall of Fame category features CMSes that have won the Overall Award in previous years competing against one another.

Envato is the company behind the well known Tuts+ Network, a network of site that provides very cool and useful tutorials. Some of the most popular site from the Tuts+ Network are: Nettuts, Vectortuts and PSDtuts.

Envato just launched their newest Tuts+ site called Phototuts, this site will be covering everything from beginner to advanced photography tips and techniques, post-processing, lighting and how to use your equipment with expertise. Visit this site here.

A couple of weeks ago i had the pleasure to give away three really cool book from Packt publishing to three people who have placed a comment on that post. I would thank everyone for placing a comment and ofcours i would like to thank Packt publishing for the three books!

This time i will give away 3 printed books that are gladdly provided by Packt Publishing (notice that Packt has a huge collection of great books). Two of the hot items on the web are WordPress and jQuery, so i will give away three books about these two subjects. Two of these books are very new, they just been published last month.

Today WordPress released there newest version of WordPress, WordPress 2.8 “Baker”. This release is named in honor of noted trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker.

A couple of day’s ago Google finally launched the API of there free analytics program. There where a lot of people waiting for this API but now it’s available for everyone.

Sorry guy’s but we are going to move to a new hosting company so the next couple of weeks we can be offline for a couple of day’s(i think one day) but not longer!
