Clicky is a web analyzer that works great with any web site, even Ajax and Flash sites. It was originally targeted towards smaller web sites and blogs because it tracks a high level of detail on every visitor, and these types of sites find this information very interesting. Since then, many additional features have been added to Clicky, such as the customizable dashboard full of Ajax love, and our amazing filtering interface that gives you actionable data on any subset of your visitors (see screenshots on the right hand side). These features, along with many others, make Clicky one of the best web analyzers on the planet.

This is a rating bar script done with PHP and mySQL that allows users to rate things like can be done on Netflix or Amazon, all web 2.0-like with no page refresh. It is a major improvement on the previous version because it is now unobtrusive, meaning that if Javascript is off it will still work (although the page will refresh). You can also set the number of rating units you want to use (i.e. 4 stars, 5 stars, or 10 stars) on a rater to rater basis (see samples below or read the docs). A few other changes were made as well – see the docs for details. Note that this script isn’t tied to any specific system (such as WordPress), so you should be able to adapt it to your situation without too much trouble.

SproutCore is a framework for building applications in JavaScript with remarkably little amounts of code. It can help you build full “thick” client applications in the web browser that can create and modify data, often completely independent of your web server, communicating with your server via Ajax only when they need to save or load data.

JavaScript applications are faster, easier to use, and a lot easier to write that complicate Ajax-driven applications. When you use a framework that SproutCore to help you, they can also be a lot of fun to write.

SproutCore is a totally new way of building applications on the web. Instead of following the typical web-driven model where most interesting things happen in the server, SproutCore applications split the load. A SproutCore application is a JavaScript application that runs entirely in the web browser. It can often run on its own, without even needing support for a web server except when it makes sense for the application. This frees the server developer to focus on the things the server can do very well such as saving, restoring and aggregating data and performing expensive operations. Meanwhile the “thick” client running in the web browser can handle the task of presenting the user with a friendly interface that is fast and intuitive.

SproutCore includes visual widgets such as list views, button views, and forms – just like other JavaScript frameworks. But it also provides other functions such as an in-memory database (that can integrate with client-side offline storage), bindings, property observing, and controllers. The code you write with SproutCore will resemble a desktop app written in Cocoa more than it will a web application written in Rails.

AJAX Suggestions is pretty much what you might have seen with Google Suggest. The basic idea is, through AJAX, to give the user an immediate response to what they’re typing and displaying the search results their input would generate. AJAX Suggestions is an unobtrusive JavaScript to add that progressive enhancement to your web page, by the usage of two CSS class names to the desired input elements.

It could also be used, for instance, in an online e-mail application where you would want to check a name in a global address book and return the related matches, with the possibility to then adding them to the field element.

AJAX Suggestions is available either as stand-alone, or in conjunction with the DOMAssistant library.

This workshop we will be building a shopping cart that’s Ajax powered. This will be a drag and drop shopping cart using the Script.aculo.us JavaScript library. We will also be using PHP on the back end to store the user’s shopping cart in sessions.

Tag clouds When, used properly, they can provide visitors with an instant illustration of the main topics of the site’s content. And although we don’t have that much choice in designing them, we can still find our way to come up with new design approaches and solutions.

Here is a new approach: Using jQuery to reduce the size of the tag cloud that you have on your sites, so our demo will introduce “Hover Sub Tags” under each main Tag, for example if you have Ajax as a tag, you can have jquery, mootools, etc… as sub-tags.  A Sub Tag  Cloud will appear

ajax im (”asynchronous javascript and xml instant messenger”) is a browser-based instant messaging client. It uses AJAX to create a near real-time IM environment that can be used in conjunction with community, intranet, and social websites. No refreshing of the page is ever needed for this “web application” to work, as everything is updated in real-time via JavaScript.

Spry is a JavaScript-based framework that enables the rapid development of Ajax-powered web pages. Not a JavaScript guru? No problem. Spry was designed to feel like an extension of HTML and CSS, so anyone with basic web-production skills can create next-generation web experiences by adding the power of Ajax to their pages.

Spry can be used with any server-side technology (ColdFusion, PHP, ASP.Net etc.). By building the front-end of your web application with Spry you enable a more efficient designer-developer workflow by keeping UI separated from back-end application logic.

This site is a quick and dirty solution to a question that I often lay awake at night worrying about. Do I have my username registered across every site that I should? What if the next internet humiliation meme just happens to share the username I’ve been using for years, and suddenly people are emailing me asking “hey, is this you ???”. The site is simple. I have a stack of web app urls, the application pings the site using the username you want to check, if it returns a “no user name” error we return that. The site uses Dojo as it does all the checks using Ajax (each check takes a couple of seconds so using Ajax you don’t have to sit and wait 3 minutes for the page to load).

The AutoSuggest class adds a popdown menu of suggested values to a text field. The user can either click directly on a suggestion to enter it into the field, or navigate the list using the up and down arrow keys, selecting a value using the tab key. The values for the suggestion list are to provided as XML (by a PHP script, or similar).

Lightweight but rich data grid with resizable columns and a scrolling data to match the headers, plus an ability to connect to an xml based data source using Ajax to load the content.

Similar in concept with the Ext Grid only its pure jQuery love, which makes it light weight and follows the jQuery mantra of running with the least amount of configuration.

A Moolets is a chunk of code, widget or applications based on Mootools and Ajax. Mootools is a javascript library framework with build in ajax that easily allows one to keep a web page connection open to the server, thus dynamically updating a portion of the content without reloading the page. Mootools has an extensive set effects and style functions to add great pizzaz to you data retrevial. Thus you can not do the same kinds of special effects once done in flash but with CSS and HTML making your content search engine friendly.

As of now there is a Joomla component available that you can install into your CMS Based Website to watch your own internal users photos and usernames appear in real time.
